This version of the "OWL" ®" #7000-I 3rd Gen+ multi-purpose Pocketscope utilizes either our standard 50mw detachable or 100mw ultra-long range "Infrared Zoom Laser Illuminator". Used properly, our standard 50mw device produces eye-safe, Class 1 infrared illumination on the target at ranges from 10 meters and beyond. Our #51 100mw laser produces eye-safe illumination at a slightly longer range. The push/pull zoom laser system allows the variable sized infrared spot to nearly illuminate the field of view or produce a narrow spot to use objective lenses from 25mm to 2,000mm.

The “OWL®”s are 3rd and 4th Generation Multi-Purpose Pocketscopes that are palm sized and weigh only 18 ounces. These high resolution night vision systems provide more than a 10 times increase in low-light sensitivity and better than 5 times the tube life over older military imaging systems. “OWL®”s have been specifically designed for rugged use, expanded versatility, compact size and incredible optical quality.
The “OWL®”’s couple quickly to 35mm, CCD, digital cameras, plus C-mount and 35mm objective lenses, telescopes, microscopes, camcorders, as well as any type of rifle or spotting scope. The ANVIS type image tubes included in each of our “OWL®” systems produce the highest overall performance for it’s type of imaging system.

This 3rd Generation+ commercial system is exactly the same as the “OWL” in size and most specifications. The Nitemare is priced at about ˝ the cost of the “OWL” because it’s photocathode sensitivity is slightly less then the “OWL”. It’s signal to noise is slightly greater then allowable in mil-spec systems. A photocathode sensitivity of 1200-1500 uA/lumen is typical for the “OWL”.
The Nitemare is adaptable to both our #50 (50mW) and our #51 (100mW) infrared zoom laser illuminators. These illuminators can be used in exactly the same way they are used on the “OWL” and can be used for illumination as well as pinpointing specific targets. All adapters used on the “OWL” are also adaptable to the Nitemare.
